Sustainable developmentIndustry-leading research and custom solutions for carbon capture and preclinical target research, with a demonstrated commitment to sustainability..
Our creative minds aim for functional materials that may play a role in society at the cutting edge of science. A by product of our newest project Saringosterol provides a template for developing many more products enhancing mind and body. We mainly developed our skills on organic catalyst development (focused on homogeneous catalysis) by execution of contract work from the industry for over 10 years.
Projects
We eagerly partner up so we can specialize on development and pre production research. Specialised partners complement with technologies to develop ready to shelf products. Our partnership with ZEF (see Carbon Capture) is our crown example.
Comfion Projects & Solutions
Carbon Capture Technologies
Comfion provides solutions for production of stable, non-toxic CO2 capture materials,, used in the DAC installation at ZEF.
Our Company offer unprecendented value, reliability, and support to project partners.
Carbon Capture molecule design
ZEF has successfully developed a sorbent for the new Direct Air Capture (DAC) system (1st generation). At Comfion the hypothesis has arisen that a more advanced sorbent can be created, both by some relatively simple adjustments and more in depth theorizing on molecular structure. Through iterating design and analysis, 2nd generation stable, non toxic, non volatile compounds are proposed with greater performance at CO2 absorption.
CO2 Sorbent capture design
Since 2017, ZEF has been developing a revolutionary new modular micro plant, directly linked to solar panels. Thousands of micro-plants will be installed in large solar farms to convert cheap, fluctuating solar energy into liquid fuel (methanol). From 100% solar energy and CO2 from air.
Methanol is an existing bulk chemical (~100 million tons per year) and is easy to store and transport and can be used directly can be used as fuel in combustion engines or fuel cells and is therefore very suitable as a sustainable fuel.
Design and development of the CO2 capture sorbent is a challenge focused on scale up and keeping cost at a minimum.
Large scale testing of carboncapture
The "second generation" sorbent is tested at the ZEF facility to be suitable for the DAC device, with a greatly improved performance: longer lifespan, lower costs, higher production, lower environmental impact. A sorbent with the intended properties would instantly make DAC much more economically feasible and highly scalable. Proposed materials from Comfion undergo series of specialised tests and run in proof-of-concept DAC devices at varying scale, from grams to multikilogram.
Through our products, we aspire to boost longevity, capture the interest of future visionaries keen on addressing significant health challenges, and underscore the remarkable adaptability of our minds.
For this, we developed a natural process for delivering a high Saringosterol content kelp extract, obtained by supercritical CO2 extraction. Saccharina Latissima, or Kombu kelp, is recognized and allowed as food in the EU, the extract is also suitable for human consumption.
Saringosterol is a liver (LXR) receptor agonist that mediates cholesterol metabolism. The effect is beneficial for mental support and cardiovascular support. Anti alzheimer potential was indicated in studies on mice.
After the launch of our natural Saringosterol, we aim to provide many more products by developing cutting-edge formulations that are safe, effective, and optimized for human consumption. Our mission is to harness the human capacity to improve brain health, vitality, and longevity, ultimately leading to enhanced well-being for individuals.
By promoting balance and clarity, we empower people to take control over their own health and reducing vulnerability to external factors.
